April 8: Fort Hunter Liggett solar micro grid groundbreaking
The Fort Hunter Liggett (FHL) Solar Micro Grid Groundbreaking Ceremony will be April 8 at 10 a.m. at the project site for the one megawatt (MW) solar micro grid facility. After the ceremony, there will be a reception following where more project information will be shared.
Awarded during FY10 and scheduled for FY11 construction, this $9.8 million project is funded by the U.S. Army Energy Conservation Investment Program which targets renewable energy programs.
The solar grid will save FHL approximately $1 million per year in energy costs, which will pay off the project lifecycle cost within 10 years.
